Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Grant, “Healthy Schools, Healthy Lives”, funds program in partnership with Memphis City Schools, the University of Tennessee at Memphis, and TLC Family Care Health Plan.
Well Child exists because we believe that healthy students are better prepared to achieve success in learning and in life, and that early detection is key to positive health outcomes. Caring and licensed Well Child medical professionals provide health care services for students, whether they are in school or at home.
The mission of Well Child is to improve the health of children by providing the very best health care services to children and youth, wherever they are.
We accomplish our mission by providing:
• Comprehensive health exams in schools delivered by experienced health care professionals
• Services for children ages 3-21
• Health promotion and disease prevention
• Every child should receive the very best health care services available.
• A healthy child is better prepared to learn.
• Diversity is to be valued and respected.

At the conclusion of the grant program, executive director and nurse practitioner, Karen J. Pease APRN, BC, MSN, incorporated Well Child Health Screening Services.
Name changed to Well Child, Inc. First corporate office opened.
Expanded to more than 200 schools served in West Tennessee.
Expanded to Middle Tennessee and opened office in Nashville.
Awarded school nursing contract for Memphis City Schools.
Awarded contract to operate regional health clinics in Memphis City Schools. Expanded to East Tennessee.
Launched optometry services in Memphis City Schools. Soon expanded across the state of Tennessee.
Launched mobile immunization services.
Transitioned to Telehealth model in response to COVID-19 pandemic.

Licensed and board-certified nurse practitioners, assisted by certified medical assistants, provide telehealth physicals and sick visits.
Licensed and board-certified registered nurses and licensed practical nurses serve as school nurses.
Our teams and patients receive support from a group of professionals as diverse as the communities we serve. Physicians, nurses, teachers, firefighters, and others contribute to ensure that each student receives the very best preventive health care services available.
Licensed and board-certified nurse practitioners, assisted by certified medical assistants, provide annual physicals, sports physicals, immunizations, and telehealth services.
Licensed optometrists, assisted by certified medical assistants, provide all optometry exams. If glasses are needed, licensed opticians dispense glasses at school, fitting and adjusting as needed.
